INARCTICA CLEVER Certification

INARCTICA is Russia’s largest aquaculture producer of salmon and sea trout. As a vertically integrated company, it ensures quality control at every production stage.

Services Provided by HPBS

HPBS experts completed a range of services for one of INARCTICA’s industrial facilities, including:

  • Review of Current Design Solutions: Assessed compliance with CLEVER standards for new construction.
  • Rating Evaluation and Certification Strategy: Determined the current rating level and developed a multi-tiered certification strategy targeting Bronze and Silver levels.
  • Technical and Economic Feasibility: Justified the costs and potential added value of implementing CLEVER solutions at multiple levels of certification.

CLEVER Certification Process

CLEVER certification offers a comprehensive assessment of sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance for a project.

Key Evaluation Areas

The certification assesses the following parameters:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Biodiversity and site ecology
  • Innovative landscaping
  • Waste management for both construction and operational phases
  • Light pollution reduction
  • Use of eco-friendly materials and refrigerants
  • Water conservation
  • Selection of energy-efficient and water-saving equipment
  • Indoor climate and comfort for staff or tenants

Project Outcomes

HPBS conducted a detailed cost analysis for implementing CLEVER certification measures across various certification levels approved by the client. The CLEVER methodology evaluates the project’s environmental and social impact during both design and construction phases.

Investment Assessment Scenarios: Two development scenarios were evaluated to determine the project’s added value:

  1. Traditional Development Approach
  2. Sustainable Approach with CLEVER Standards

The analysis included direct and indirect costs, yielding the following insights:

  • Bronze Level:
    • Construction cost increase: 0.6%
    • Utility cost reduction: up to 15%
  • Silver Level:
    • Construction cost increase: 0.9%
    • Utility cost reduction: up to 25%

Certification to “green” standards enables projects to reduce energy and material consumption, enhance attractiveness, and lower risks.
